I can’t recommend The Seafood Guy highly enough! The quality was top notch — everything is fresh, beautifully prepared, and you can really taste the difference compared to supermarket seafood. The variety is fantastic too, with great options whether you’re after something simple for dinner or something special for a weekend feast.
Service is spot on, friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to give cooking tips or advice on what’s in season. You can tell there’s real pride in what they do.
Nottingham is lucky to have such a brilliant seafood supplier — I won’t go anywhere else now when in Notts- Food

Had some of the best food I have ever eaten last night @theseafoodguyuk. I was a bit doubtful as there have been a lot of gushing comments on Insta about this place. But it lives up the hype... Phrases like hidden gem are overused... But this is the full treasure chest. Every dish was delicious and the portions are full plates not small plates, meaty ribs, fat scallops everything perfectly seasoned I love Sichuan spice and thus was up there with the best . It's definitely not just seafood either lots of chicken, beef and pork dishes . But the seafood is amazing, my mate and I agreed we are heading back very soon for the whole crab which we didn't have cos we wanted to try a few different dishes. Reports from other tables were that it was sensational. There are pictures on the menu so you know what to expect but they don't do the food justice. The food for the two of us 3 big dishes plus rice was less than £40. We had leftovers and are both big eaters. We got a decent bottle of wine to share which was reasonable too. They have some great meal deals on with mains, drink and rice for about £15 and cheaper at lunchtime. It's less than 10 minutes walk from Nottingham Station and you get beautiful views up to the Castle as you walk there. The staff are lovely and helpful if you are stuck on what to choose. Go there now.- Service

Great place to come and eat, it was our first time here, drinks came out separately but didn't mind it. The food was a choice of starter then main or just bring out as it's ready, we chose the second option. Clean, good atmosphere, really helpful staff but didn't hover and when it came to pay they left the machine with us to do in our own time. Even the little shop at the front was great! Would definitely go again.
We had the Eel Rice Bowl, Beef with egg noodles, spoots (razor clams) and gyoza. Would really recommend the Yuzu Sake cocktail!- Meal type

I always thought French toast had to be thick to taste good, but this one proved me wrong. It wasn’t very thick, yet it literally took me back to Hong Kong. It was cooked perfectly and in a traditional way, full of confidence—just like in one of the many Hong Kong-style cafés. I’ve already had it twice, and also tried the chocolate lava toast once, but the original flavor is simply flawless—especially when paired with a hot milk tea, it truly feels like being in Hong Kong.
The crab was also very delicious and reasonably priced. It wasn’t extremely big, but definitely not small either—just right. I’ll definitely order the crab again next time 🦀.
The food arrived at 5:50 pm, but it was actually my lunch.- Food

However, needless to say, that although catering for vegetarians it's main focus is meat based dishes currently - so you might feel a bit restricted.
Staff were also super friendly, it's a nice interior and it's great having the shop on the front with lots of small bit you might struggle to get elsewhere. I'll definetly be back to try more of the menu soon.- Service

Owner response
Thank you Jonny, this is Johnny the server last night. Enjoy the Sake and see you soon🫶
Small restaurant located in Nottingham mainly serve seafood to immigrants from HKG but now extend to local customer. Food is quite good but a bit salty which is good to pair with beer and drinks.

The food are super nice and staffs are friendly too. The toast is my favourite, the peanut butter inside, the fried toast ,the whole thing is just perfect. The coating of the black pepper chicken is also really nice ,it's super crispy , it's just that the black pepper sauce is not strong enough imo. Other than that, the beef cheese baked rice is so flavourful and the beef is so tender. And I would really recommend getting the lunch set ,just need to add another 3 pounds for the red bean ice cream drink which I would recommend others to try.- Service

Visited on a Monday night so it was fairly quiet however dead nice food, very welcoming and hospitable. Definitely recommend the pb french toast, good sake collection as well. Not your usual Chinese/English style food. Definitely more authentic. Will be returning

Such a great experience we had here, started with a cocktail whilst being run through house recommendations, everything was amazing, oyster duck egg omlette was definitely a new one on us, deep fried but not greasy at all. Flaming chicken hot pot was something special, strawberry sweet and sour pork was alot better than your standard s+s dishes from takeaways. And you must have the HK French Toast, don't be afraid to try something new. Service is impeccable, dishes explained very well with stories behind them.- Seating type

The restaurant had a real family feel and we were made to feel so welcome. They embrace the sharing culture and this was clear to see with the families around us all tucking in. A special shout out to Crystal, she was lovely and we especially enjoyed her stories from home and information on the restaurants background. When we left there wasn’t a spare seat in the house which is amazing for early doors on a midweek night and just shows how popular the restaurant is.- Service

Food is absolutely delicious. Deep fried oysters are crispy like I tried in Hong Kong. The best Hong Kong food I’ve ever had in the UK. Highly recommend 👍

A proper celebration of Hong Kong cuisine. Delicious food, passionate staff and a little Asian store to buy some snacks too! Might not look like much from the outside, but I’d sincerely urge you to put aside your thoughts on appearances and give these guys a go.
